In Mobile Inventory are recommended some of most used fields in inventory process, such as:

  • SKU
  • Barcodes
  • QR codes
  • Categories
  • MU
  • Book quantity
  • etc.

But there are many other fields that users need. That why we implemented a new feature which allow users to add their own fields and to use them in the app.

Change products list display

Each item from the products list contains 6 areas where are placed miscellaneous fields assigned to the product.

The default combination provided by us contains the following fields:

  • Product name                               
  • SKU
  • Barcode
  • Counted
  • Variation
  • MU

You have the possibility to define your own combination (add /remove fields, change the order) which can contain custom fields too.

How to set your own combination?

  1. For changing display you have to tap long on products list and choose Change display.
  2. From the product display screen select the third option and assign the wanted field to each area.
  3. If you want to leave blank an area just choose Select.
  4. Close the pop up screen and your display is done!

Add a picture

A picture is worth a thousand words!

When we have many inventory items, much of them with ambiguous and long names, it's hard to do the identification in a short time.

If we add that we are new in the branch ...  we have almost all conditions to make from the inventory process a difficult job.

In these conditions an image for comparison seems to be a good idea.

Where?

The images can be added and viewed in details tab associated to the product.

How?

Just click on the image icon and then you can add the image by:

  • taking a picture with the device camera
  • choosing one from your photo gallery

  • by clicking on image you can see it in full dimensions
  • you can add more images to a product using custom field feature

Use NFC tags

Identify quickly the products using NFC reader.

You don't need another application to write NFC tags. You can choose to write to tag from the dedicated NFC field or any of: SKU, Product name, QR / Barcode.

Prerequirements

  1. Your device should support NFC
  2. NFC should be activated
  3. Your products should be tagged with NFC tags

 How?

For reading from tag into field or writing to tag from field you have to hold the device close to the tag.

Steps

  1. Fill NFC field from the app. You have several ways for doing that:
    • Import from an excel products list (see how...)
    • Read from tag into field:
      • (A) Within product area -> Details tab -> Tap on NFC button -> Choose "Read from tag into field" -> Hold the device close to the tag.
  2. Write to tag from field (only if your tags haven't been written before):
    •  (B) Within product area -> Details tab -> Tap on NFC button -> Choose "Write to tag from field" 
    • You can choose what field to be written on the tag:
      • NFC
      • SKU (internal code)
      • Barcode
      • Product name
    • Hold the device close to the tag.
  3. Identify quickly the product by holding the device close to tag. You can do that from:
    • Products list area
    • Within product area

Take stock from Stock management

Use case

If you use Stock management inventory type continuously and you want to count your physical stock time to time - this feature fits to you.

Why

Because adding entries continuously you get a stock and you have to compare it periodically with the real one obtained by  physical counting.

How

  1. Go to main area of the app (inventories list)
  2. Add new inventory
    • Choose Take stock
  3. Choose "IMPORT  from other inventory"
    • Select the parent inventory (from where you want to take over the products)
  4. Tap on PROCEED

What fields are taken over

Variations

When the products are taken over from Stock management in Take stock inventory type  - current stock from the first one is called book quantity in the second. 

As will physical count the products - variations between counted quantities and book quantities are displayed in:

  • Products list area
  • Detail tab within product area

Sorting by custom fields

Mobile Inventory offers great tools for the best usability of the products list.

Among them you can find the sorting feature by different predefined fields:

  • product name
  • sku
  • variation
  • etc.

When?

But what happens when you add your own custom fields and you want to sort the list by them?

How?

Now you can do that by selecting your custom field in the sorting area (see the image beside).

Images – importing in bulk

Steps

  1. Place all your images in "Mobile Inventory - Images" directory:
    • located in the device's main user storage (/sdcard/ for most devices)
    • *Note - If you don't find this directory add an image to a product from the app and it will be created (see how ...)
  2. In your import file, create another "Image" column, and for each product specify the name of the image file, including the extension:
    • example: "Product_258_Field_11.jpg"
  3. Do an import inside the app, and make sure you match the image field from the app with the image column from Excel file (find out more about importing from excel file)

How can I import the countings values I’ve done before?

When?

  • You've done the counting before and
  • You want to import the countings results in a NEW inventory

When not?

  • You want to update an existing inventory 

How?

The process is similar with the importing products list.

All you have to do is to add a dedicated column with the countings in your excel products list and to match it with the field named "Counted".
